Sydenham Square is a substantial development in Christchurch City which covers most of a city block. The urban plan for Sydenham Square has been developed by leading urban planners, DPZ Pacific. Sydenham Square is predominantly made up of a style of building called a Live-Work Unit. These unique properties incorporate both commercial and residential real estate by having a ground floor level that can be used for retail purposes and allowing for an apartment over the upper one or two levels. In addition to several two and three level Live-Work Units there are several large commercial tenancies, several apartments and a large parking building. These buildings have been incorporated into the Sydenham Square master plan to create a dense and vibrant mixed use community. A prominent feature is the central grassed square which has been retained from the site's previous use as the Sydenham School. Sydenham Square is an excellent example of the standard of project that Property Ventures is committed to undertaking. Our experience at Sydenham Square will provide important lessons for the incorporation of Live-Work units into future developments such as Five Mile.
